Eternal Matters

Humano Freeman · December 7, 2023 ·

Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha) famously refused to answer ten questions concerning the nature of life and the universe. He believed that pondering these questions would cause confusion, and hinder the attainment of enlightenment.

An undertone of many of the questions is eternity: does anything last? If we think that we are eternal, we may believe, “Nothing matters, because nothing ends.” If we think that we are finite, we may believe, “Nothing matters, because nothing lasts.”

Every moment ends, yet, paradoxically, no moment can ever be erased. Moments matter, simply because they are. You matter simply because you are. I matter simply because I AM.
